Olerai House is a charming home-from-home that accommodates a maximum of twelve adults. This delightful rambling converted farmhouse was built in the 1930s and retains much of its old-fashioned charm.

The six en-suite bedrooms, with extra beds for children, can be rented apiece on a B&B basis or exclusively as an entire house for a minimum two-night stay as self-catering.

The central living-space with a sitting room and fireplace, dining room and small library, is shared by guests and looks out across an expansive flower garden where meals are enjoyed under the giant 'yellow fever' trees.

An internal 'piazza' - shaded by a canopy of flowering vines - adjoins the kitchen and links several of the bedrooms to the living room.

You can enjoy our legendary breakfasts of homemade granola, yogurt, fresh fruits, juice, honey from our apiary, freshly baked treats and coffee or Swahili tea, in the piazza or main garden.

Our farm-to-table menu is revised every few months to celebrate rain-kissed growth spurts and seasonal variation. We take great delight in conjuring combinations of freshly picked produce from our bountiful organic garden, and have omnivorous and plant-based options for lunch and dinner plus a range of delicious hot breakfasts. Farm Kitchen meals should be ordered 24 hours in advance and paid for in cash or Mpesa.

There are four double rooms at Olerai House with en-suite bathrooms, each with its own animal theme - Kiboko (hippo), Twiga (girafe), Ndovu (elephant), and Chui (leopard), plus two larger rooms rooms for families.

Swara is better suited for families with small children, while Nyati works well for families with "tweens".

Each has its own special view and the bathrooms have a tub or shower. Our borehole water can vary in colour as its laden with minerals from the Rift Valley strata, but it's soft and hot and does the job!
