ELEPHANT WATCH CAMP

Nestled amidst soaring acacias on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river in Samburu national reserve, north Kenya, Elephant Watch Camp offers specialist elephant encounters hosted by expert ambassadors from the local nomadic community. A conservation-led social enterprise that feeds directly back into effective conservation-action, this beautiful camp is about as eco-friendly as it gets with six spacious bedrooms each with its own private verandah. Inside, soft flowing cloths cascade to the floor and wide netted windows keep bugs out but allow the sounds and scents of the wild to drift in on the warm breeze.

Showers are under the stars with hot water powered by the sun, and great care is taken to honour the wild world to the maximum. Our special talent at Elephant Watch is to introduce you to the 60+ known families that have been studied by Save The Elephants since 1997. We approach each member of this 1000-strong elephant population with insight and reverence, knowing them so well that they let us into the heart of their families. It's an unrivalled experience that recruits people from round the world to join hands to protect elephants.

We believe passionately that conservation-led tourism plays a crucial role in preserving Africa's threatened wildlife, cultures and habitats by providing alternative livelihoods for local people. Founded in 2003, this unique social enterprise is leading the way as a shining example of best practice in tourism.
